On Monday 31 May, I went with Moses, a couple girls from our team, and a local man who only has one working leg to walk around our neighborhood (Nakazide Village) looking for chidren/people with disabilities. I figured we would find two or three people at the most. I found that there were two or three within a stone's throw of our house. There seemed to be disabled children every few hundred feet that we walked. They were usually tucked away in back rooms of houses.
One little boy with cerebral palsy/epilepsy etc sat on a stool in a dark-hot-cramped room full of disassembled car batteries. His father recycles batteries and the small room/shop doubles as a house for them.
While getting to know a different little boy in the neighborhood who is blind and has many disabilities, I met this little girl who has become one of my little friends in the neighborhood. She has the cutest smile/eyes. Though she never is smiling when I snap the pictures.
This is my little friend with an amazing smile. I'll get a smiling picture before the summer is over.
